Want to have more fun in EverQuest? Read on!
This guide will try and walk you through using the free open source MySEQ with EverQuest on a 1 PC setup.
Some Basic Info
- I do not use this program but believe anything that doesn’t grief other players directly and will make the game enjoyable and less fustrating for players is acceptable.
- This program is against the Sony EverQuest EULA and can get your accounts banned.
- This program is 99.9% safe to use as long as you keep it to yourself and avoid letting other players know that you use it either directly by telling them or indirectly by showing off.
- This program is known by a few names. ShowEQ is the linux version, MySEQ is the WINDOWS version. All references to this program under windows will be under the “MySEQ” name only. Do not refer to it by any other name unless you intend to mean that you are using something not in windows.
- You can run this program on the same PC you play everquest or on a seperate PC/Monitor.
- The main website for this program is www.showeq.net. Any other website is an imitation.
What it does
- Passively(doesn’t alter the data at all) reads the EverQuest memory while the game is running, then displays the information on a map similar to the in-game map but with all available information such as npc or player location, true names, movement, level, etc. Anything the client receives that can be translated into useful information.
- Information such as item drops is not sent to the client and thus not available.
What you need
- Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0: which can be found here
- the MySEQ program: it is divided into two parts. the “Server” and the “Client”. The server transmits the data to the client. The client displays the information. Both need to be running even if you use the one PC setup.
- Maps: they can be found at www.mapfiend.net or just use the ones in your /EverQuest/maps directory
- Offsets: Offsets are the location of where the information is in the memory, aka the memory address for the information. You need new offsets usually everytime the game is patched and the eqgame.exe file is changed. To get new offsets after a patch you will need to visit the MySEQ section of the forums here
Step 1 - download MySEQ
- as of this writing you can find the newest versions of the server and client here
- extract each .zip file into seperate folders
Step 2 - enter new offsets
- Open the myseqserver.ini file in notepad, then visit the forums and find the newest offsets post. Copy and paste the new offsets into the ini file in notepad making sure you only replace the old information with the new information. Deleting or leaving out parts of the info will result in the program not functioning.
- You will need to do this anytime the program requires new offsets (see above)

Step 3 - maps
- Your best bet is to go to www.mapfiend.net, click Map Packs on the left, select All MAPS, download the .zip file, and unzip it into the client /map folder.
Step 4 - program settings
- Run both myseqserver.exe and myseq.exe. If you get an error stating you need Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0+ go here, download, and install it. Then proceed. You should not need a restart.
- Run EverQuest and enter the world with the character of your choice. Then hit “Go” on the MySEQ Client and you should start seeing what are known as “skittles”. These are dots displaying the position of you and everything else in your current zone. You are now done!
- If you are running this on a 2 PC setup the server will be on your EQ machine and the client will be on your second PC. Go to the Options in the client OR just press F1 on your keyboard and replace 127.0.0.1 with the IP Address for the EQ server machine.

Most information needed to get this running is either in this post or more accurately displayed on the MySEQ forums. If you have problems figuring this out you can post comments asking questions and I will try and answer you. If you want me to append this post because I left something out or didn’t do a good enough job you can also let me know here or by e-mail.
