Agoraphobia
Current mood: hyper
Category: Life

So I am pretty hyper at the moment. Why you ask? Maybe another time! What better time to write my first blog you say!?! I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been wanting to for a while now!

I thought it would be nice and important in some way to shed some light on something not everyone is aware of even exists. I know I sure wasn’t aware of it for a long time until I saw something about it on TV one day which helped me out immensely. It’s a phobia by the name of Agoraphobia. Definitions can vary depending on where you look but it’s basically a fear of unknown situations, or crowded situations/places, or a fear of leaving a safe secure place and going out into the unknown. Panic or anxiety attacks can happen to people suffering from this when in those situations.

This is no fear of spiders or heights. Agoraphobia can be devastating to a persons life. It can lead to things such as the inability to hold a job and withdrawl from family, friends, and society. Simple tasks many take for granted are often daunting for someone with Agoraphobia. Simple things such as making a phone call or leaving their home. This can also make treatment very difficult in more severe cases.

It is very treatable but it can be very confusing until you realize what is happening. You may not even notice something is wrong for a very very long time and even then you may not understand what it is or confuse it for something else. You may simply start avoiding people and situations. A good indication that something is wrong is a desire to do something or go somewhere, yet an overpowering anxiety or need to avoid it. Even thinking about the situations can cause fear, anxiety, panic, terror.

Here is a wikipedia article on Agoraphobia

Ok enough rambling. I’m sure a grand total of 2 people will read this. One being me.

This is still a problem for me, but has greatly decreased. Anxiety levels vary depending on the day. I have flip flopped back and forth over the months since I first wrote that from full anxiety, to no anxiety at all when going out, back to full anxiety and not wanting to go out, to currently medium to no anxiety again.

There is no doubt this is something I have. Took a long time to figure it out but at least now I realize it.

Monkly EQ tips - Fast Sneak, Get an NPCs True Name

Here are some quick yet handy Monk tips for EverQuest.

Fast Sneaking ability - Currently you can bug sneak so that you can sneak while running full speed. All you have to do is hit sneak then target anything else (an npc or player or object) then hit clawstrike, dragon fang, or one of the pacify abilities. You MUST get an “out of range” message. Once you do this, you will act as if you are sneaking yet at full speed because the sneak button is no longer in use. To test it out just /consider an npc from behind like you would normal sneak. This is handy for pulling, corpse recover, basically anything sneak would be handy for except that you are now at full speed. Very useful.

What is an NPCs True Name and how do you get it? - Simply put it’s the npcs full name, “an_orc_pawn09″ for example versus what you see in game which is only “an orc pawn”. This can be useful for using /target on a specific npc or for telling different npcs apart that are close together. Or just to show off and pretend you are a cheat. This only works with feign death. Simple feign in close proximity to the npc you want the information for then attempt to trade a no trade item to it. The npc will say something along the lines of “an_orc_pawn28 is too busy to trade”.

ShowEQ(MySEQ) in EverQuest(EQ) for Dummies(almost)

Want to have more fun in EverQuest? Read on!

This guide will try and walk you through using the free open source MySEQ with EverQuest on a 1 PC setup.

Some Basic Info

  • I do not use this program but believe anything that doesn’t grief other players directly and will make the game enjoyable and less fustrating for players is acceptable.
  • This program is against the Sony EverQuest EULA and can get your accounts banned.
  • This program is 99.9% safe to use as long as you keep it to yourself and avoid letting other players know that you use it either directly by telling them or indirectly by showing off.
  • This program is known by a few names. ShowEQ is the linux version, MySEQ is the WINDOWS version. All references to this program under windows will be under the “MySEQ” name only. Do not refer to it by any other name unless you intend to mean that you are using something not in windows.
  • You can run this program on the same PC you play everquest or on a seperate PC/Monitor.
  • The main website for this program is www.showeq.net. Any other website is an imitation.

What it does

  • Passively(doesn’t alter the data at all) reads the EverQuest memory while the game is running, then displays the information on a map similar to the in-game map but with all available information such as npc or player location, true names, movement, level, etc. Anything the client receives that can be translated into useful information.
  • Information such as item drops is not sent to the client and thus not available.

What you need

  • Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0: which can be found here
  • the MySEQ program: it is divided into two parts. the “Server” and the “Client”. The server transmits the data to the client. The client displays the information. Both need to be running even if you use the one PC setup.
  • Maps: they can be found at www.mapfiend.net or just use the ones in your /EverQuest/maps directory
  • Offsets: Offsets are the location of where the information is in the memory, aka the memory address for the information. You need new offsets usually everytime the game is patched and the eqgame.exe file is changed. To get new offsets after a patch you will need to visit the MySEQ section of the forums here

Myspace trick - viewing full size default pictures on private/restricted profiles

This are more of a trick or workaround than actual hacks or exploits of the system. But they are not always obvious to beginner level users.

Updated: August 29, 2007

Advanced Users can skip past the basics to Step 1

Some Basics
Q: What is a URL?

A: a URL is the address or link to the information you are viewing or looking for on the web. For example www.google.com is a URL. So are longer more complicated URLs such as http://www.google.com/search?q=URL&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Q: What is the address bar?

A: the address bar is almost always located at the top of your web browser, it is where the URL goes into.

Like this…
Address Bar

Q: What is a profile ID/number?

A: it’s a number given to a user to identify their individual profile. Person A could have the profile number 1234, while person B could have the profile number 5678. These numbers clearly distinguish those individuals from each other. On sites like MySpace, Facebook, or similar sites these numbers come inside or at the end of pretty much every URL because it is meant to identify you as the user doing these actions. Most sites have protection against fiddling with this mechanism, however not always and in many cases a loophole is missed somewhere in the system or left open because it’s so minor allowing you access by changing the URL and/or these numbers. This is what this post covers.

Getting the large version of someones default picture when their profile is set to private

The default picture is the picture you see next to someones name on MySpace pretty much everywhere you see them. Messages, Posts, Searches, On someones friends list, etc. MySpace warns that your default picture is visible to everyone, and it’s true! Even if someones profile is set to private or they have disabled viewing of their pictures to only friends. Sometimes you come across a profile that is private but they have a really cool picture and you want to see the larger version. It’s very easy.

Step 1

Find one of those annoyingly small/medium pictures you want to have a large version of, any picture at all on any myspace page. For this example we will just use everyones default friend Tom.

Step 2

Right click the image and a sub menu appears. If using Firefox click View Image. If using Internet Explorer click Properties then copy the Address: URL and paste it into the address bar. Make sure you copied everything from http:// to the end which should be .gif or .jpg See images below for your specific browser if necessary!

Firefox Users:
Tom

Internet Explorer Users:
properties

copy address url
note, this also works in Firefox

Step 3

Once you have the image URL in the address bar, change the letter s or m (whichever is there depends on the size of the photo) to the letter l in the filename all the way near the end of the URL. That’s l as in a lower case L. The s stands for small, m stands for medium, l stands for large. See image below for example.

small url
large url

Now all you have to do is press Enter or hit Go to go to the new URL and you will arrive at the large sized version of the picture.

I do this all the time, not for malicious reasons, but just because I genuinely find lots of pictures on Myspace interesting/creative or just because I don’t want to visit someones profile and sort through 200 pictures to find their default.

Feel free to comment if something is unclear, or if you found this useful… or not. =)
